Virtual Information Security Officer

Lindsey Benes is a Virtual Information Security Officer (vISO) at Vancord, where she helps organizations strengthen their cybersecurity programs, understand and manage risk, and navigate the complexities of compliance requirements. She works closely with clients to assess their security posture, identify and prioritize gaps, develop internal policies and procedures, and build practical strategies for meeting their security and regulatory objectives.

With more than 20 years of experience in Information Technology, and over a decade in cybersecurity, Lindsey’s background includes supporting various three-letter agencies, military branches, and Department of Defense environments, serving as an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO), and conducting compliance audits for a C3PAO. She has also worked in systems engineering and security control validation, giving her a technical perspective on how security requirements are implemented and assessed in practice. Her experience encompasses cybersecurity governance, risk management, regulatory compliance, and security program development, with particular proficiency in NIST, RMF, and CMMC requirements.
